Free Financial Calculators
Four working calculators: three on this page for budgeting, loan payments and long-term savings growth, plus a separate credit card payoff calculator. Everything runs in your browser; the numbers you type are not sent anywhere.
50/30/20 Budget Calculator
Split your after-tax pay into needs (50%), wants (30%) and savings or debt payoff (20%). Use take-home pay, not your salary before taxes.
How this is calculated
Monthly take-home pay = pay per period × periods per year ÷ 12 (52 weekly, 26 every two weeks, 24 twice a month, 12 monthly, 1 yearly). Then needs = 50% × monthly pay, wants = 30% × monthly pay, savings and debt payoff = 20% × monthly pay.
The 50/30/20 rule is a rough guideline, not a rule you must follow. In high-cost areas needs may be above 50%. Results are estimates for education, not personalized financial advice. See our 50/30/20 budgeting guide for worked examples.
Loan Payment Calculator
Estimate the monthly payment and total interest on a fixed-rate loan that is paid off in equal monthly payments.
How this is calculated
With monthly rate i = APR ÷ 12 and n monthly payments, the payment is P × i ÷ (1 − (1 + i)−n). If the rate is 0%, the payment is P ÷ n. Total paid = payment × n; total interest = total paid − loan amount.
Estimate only. Real loans may add origination fees, insurance, taxes or rounding differences, and a lender’s quote controls. Not a loan offer or personalized advice.
Compound Growth Calculator
See how a starting balance and regular monthly deposits could grow at an assumed yearly return, compounded monthly.
How this is calculated
With monthly rate i = yearly return ÷ 12 and n = years × 12 months, deposits made at the end of each month: Future value = Start × (1 + i)n + Deposit × ((1 + i)n − 1) ÷ i. At a 0% return it is Start + Deposit × n. Growth = future value − everything you put in.
This is a hypothetical illustration, not a forecast. Real investment returns vary year to year and can be negative; it also ignores taxes, fees and inflation. Not investment advice.
