SSI Payment Schedule for November 2026: Why Your Payment Arrives on October 30

The SSI payment schedule for November 2026 has one date to know: Friday, October 30, 2026. SSI is normally paid on the 1st of the month, and when the 1st falls on a weekend or federal holiday, Social Security Administration (SSA) rules move the payment to the business day before. November 1 is a Sunday this year, so November’s Supplemental Security Income payment arrives two days early. It is your regular November payment, not an extra or bonus payment.
Last reviewed October 26, 2026. SSA’s 2026 payment calendar lists October 30 and December 31 as SSI payment dates; the FinovativeHub editorial team visually verified this. The second table’s Social Security benefit dates (not SSI) are calculated from SSA’s payment rules, as noted there. Confirm your own dates in your my Social Security account.

The rule behind the early date is in SSA’s Program Operations Manual: Treasury dates SSI checks for the first of the month and, when the 1st falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or federal holiday, for the business day immediately before it. SSA publishes the schedule in its 2026 payment calendar and explains the rule in POMS GN 02401.035.

Why October shows two SSI deposits and November shows none

Your October payment arrives on October 1, and your November payment on October 30. Your October bank statement will show two deposits, and November will show none. SSA has said that an early payment like this isn’t a duplicate and doesn’t need to be reported.
If bills are due on November 1, the October 30 deposit covers them. The next SSI payment arrives December 1, so the money has to last from October 30 to December 1. Our 50/30/20 budgeting guide shows one way to plan around a fixed monthly payment.

Social Security dates are different

SSI and Social Security are separate programs. SSI is need-based. Social Security retirement, survivors, and disability (SSDI) benefits are tied to work history, and most are paid on a birthdate-based schedule. The SSI schedule does not apply.
SSIFriday, October 30
Social Security and SSI both, or Social Security that started before May 1997Social Security on Tuesday, November 3
Social Security, birthday on the 1st to 10thTuesday, November 10
Social Security, birthday on the 11th to 20thWednesday, November 18
Social Security, birthday on the 21st to 31stWednesday, November 25
The November 3 date is SSA’s third-of-the-month date, which falls on a Tuesday. The other three are SSA’s second-, third-, and fourth-Wednesday groups. The second Wednesday this month is November 11, Veterans Day, and SSA’s rule is that a payment due on a federal holiday is paid on the business day before, which gives November 10. SSA calculates these Social Security dates using its rules rather than a published list. If you get both SSI and Social Security, you receive two separate payments on two different dates. SSA explains the groups in What day of the month do I get my Social Security payment?

What changes in December

SSA announced a 3.6 percent cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) on October 14, 2026. For SSI recipients, SSA says the increased payments begin with the December 31, 2026 payment. Social Security increases begin with the benefits received in January 2027. SSA’s federal benefit rate for an eligible individual rises from $994 to $1,029 a month, and for a couple from $1,491 to $1,544. Your payment may differ because of countable income, living arrangements, and state supplements. Our COLA stories show the dollar increase and provide a five-step checklist. For the details, see SSA’s 2027 COLA FAQ and fact sheet.

How to check your own payment date

  1. Sign in to your my Social Security account and choose “View schedule.” SSA says the schedule shows upcoming and past payments. See SSA’s payment schedule page.
  2. Call SSA at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778). SSA says the automated line is open 24 hours a day; when prompted, say “check delivery.”
  3. Look at your bank or card account. Banks don’t always post a deposit the same day.

If your SSI payment does not arrive

What to do depends on how you are paid.
If you are paid by direct deposit, check your bank account first. If the expected deposit has not appeared, contact your bank or financial institution before contacting SSA, because the delay may be on the bank’s side. SSA’s own guidance for a missing payment starts the same way. If the money is still missing after you have talked to your bank, call SSA at 1-800-772-1213 or contact your local Social Security office. SSA says it will review the case and replace the payment if it is due. SSA does not give a separate waiting period for direct deposits in the guidance linked here.
If you are paid by mail, SSA’s 2026 payment calendar says that if you do not receive your payment on the expected date, you should allow three additional mailing days before contacting Social Security. That guidance applies to mailed payments. It does not apply to direct deposits.
SSA’s page, How do I report a missing payment? explains the process.

The SSI resource limit: check your own situation with SSA

SSI has resource limits of $2,000 for an individual and $3,000 for a couple, which SSA says are unchanged for 2027. SSA counts cash and money in bank accounts among countable resources. Because the October 30 deposit arrives before November begins, some readers may wonder how SSA treats that payment. This article does not say how it is counted, and we did not find an SSA statement that addresses that situation. If your balance is close to the limit, contact SSA directly to confirm how the rules apply to your own circumstances. SSA’s SSI resources page explains the rules and lists what counts and what doesn’t.

Common questions

Is the October 30 payment extra money?

No. It is November’s payment, issued early because November 1 is a Sunday. It is not an extra or bonus payment.

Why is there no SSI payment in November?

Your November payment was issued October 30. The next SSI payment is December 1.

When does SSI pay in December and January?

December 1, then December 31 for January 2027. The December 31 payment is also the first one with the cost-of-living increase.

Does SSI follow the birthday schedule?

No. SSI follows the first-of-the-month rule. Social Security retirement, survivors, and SSDI benefits follow birthday groups, with a third-of-the-month group for people who also get SSI or whose benefits started before May 1997.

Do state supplements arrive on the same date?

FinovativeHub did not verify any state’s payment dates. Ask SSA or your state agency.

Can you get help with prescription drug costs?

Our Medicare Part D guide explains the Extra Help program and mentions that people who receive SSI may qualify.
